Learn the basics and more of gastrointestinal diseases. Gastrointestinal diseases have become a major medical, social and economic burden worldwide. The larger the number of patients suffering from gastric ulcer and colorectal cancer, the greater the need to properly diagnose and cure. This book is a comprehensive guide through GI diseases, which can be used by practitioners and patients. It will allow: - to explore the mechanisms underlying GI diseases - to accurately diagnose and find the best treatment - to learn how to alleviate GI disease symptoms by changing diet and lifestyle This guide has been written by experts in the field who understand the needs of doctors and their patients. With this book, you will make sure that the GI disease can be properly managed.
A Comprehensive Overview of Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Clinical and Basic Science Aspects presents up-to-date knowledge in the field and provides a comprehensive summary of this area of study, including an overview on IBS, starting from its pathogenesis, including genetic, microbial and physiological background, through symptom recognition, diagnosis and IBS treatment, both non-pharmacological and pharmacological.
Our own experience shows that there is no simple, yet of good scientific and clinical quality guide for practitioners and patients on gastrointestinal diseases. In the proposed book we will cover a vast area in the field, from GI tract physiology to disease diagnosis and treatment, in a comprehensive and approachable manner. The guide will not replace online resources (often used by patients) or specialized editions addressing experienced medical doctors, but rather fill the gap between those two. Our aim is to design this book so that it appeals to a wider audience; yet - if needed - encourages to explore the field further.
